Death is only a man, but one who has control over all living beings. He chooses who will live or die. He commands the fates and gives the order to cut the thread of life. However, Death isn’t alone.

In the beginning of time, he realized that it would be impossible for a single figure to wield power over life and death, while still having time to punish the wicked. Death summoned the tainted souls of the dead and from them created a race of females. They would be the takers of souls, the guardians of the afterlife, and the harbingers of death.

They are Death’s Hellhounds. Wild, impulsive, and terrifying, these sisters have a solitary goal: to hunt down unspeakable evils. When Death calls his Hellhounds to embark on the Wild Hunt, they must forsake their humanity to consume the most depraved souls in existence. Six remain in the veil between life and death, but step through the threshold when Death calls.

Kali has spent her immortal life avoiding attachment. She hides her true self from all but her sisters. When Death gives her an assignment to hunt a rogue angel, she must confront the one man who places her heart in danger. Alone, she must face an enemy too powerful for a solitary Hellhound and find a way to break Death’s leash.

Amazon / Barnes & Noble

Synopsis:
Love or life.
Henry or their child.
The end of her family or the end of the world.
Kate must choose.

During nine months of captivity, Kate Winters has survived a jealous goddess, a vengeful Titan and a pregnancy she never asked for. Now the Queen of the Gods wants her unborn child, and Kate can't stop her--until Cronus offers a deal.

In exchange for her loyalty and devotion, the King of the Titans will spare humanity and let Kate keep her child. Yet even if Kate agrees, he'll destroy Henry, her mother and the rest of the council. And if she refuses, Cronus will tear the world apart until every last god and mortal is dead.

With the fate of everyone she loves resting on her shoulders, Kate must do the impossible: find a way to defeat the most powerful being in existence, even if it costs her everything.

Even if it costs her eternity.

My Thoughts: What an ending to the second book, Goddess Interrupted, it really sets the pace for this book!! I cannot believe how severely Kate's best friend betrays her and Henry!!! I could not set this book down, I had to know what was going to happen to Kate and the rest of the group as Cronus's power grows stronger.  I really did enjoy this series but I honestly had a hard time with some of the more dramatic scenes with Kate.  Overall I loved reading the journey Kate and Henry each take and I was glad they were each able to come together in the end. Although I was happy for Kate and Henry I was pretty sad to see one of my favorite characters not make it out alive in the final battle with Cronus.

Synopsis: Kate Winters has won immortality. But if she wants a life with Henry in the Underworld, she'll have to fight for it.

Becoming immortal wasn't supposed to be the easy part. Though Kate is about to be crowned Queen of the Underworld, she's as isolated as ever. And despite her growing love for Henry, ruler of the Underworld, he's becoming ever more distant and secretive. Then, in the midst of Kate's coronation, Henry is abducted by the only being powerful enough to kill him: the King of the Titans.

As the other gods prepare for a war that could end them all, it is up to Kate to save Henry from the depths of Tartarus. But in order to navigate the endless caverns of the Underworld, Kate must enlist the help of the one person who is the greatest threat to her future.
Henry's first wife, Persephone.
My Thoughts: I finished this book in a day, but it was a love hate relationship.  Now don't get me wrong I love the story line and the path that Kate has to take to save the people she loves.  What I did not like was her constant need for reassurance from Henry, I understand her need but it was hard to read and sort of stressful. Why the author felt she needed to drag out the difficulties of their relationship in the way she chose is beyond me, and I feel sort of took away from the story as a whole.

Saying all of that I still love this series and, like I said before, finished the book in a day.  The story keeps you captivated the whole time and once things are finally settled a little bit for Kate and Henry its easy to love the relationship they develop.  I continue to love all the main characters and the roll each of them play in Cronus, the Titans, struggle to escape the underworld. This second book is pretty fast paced and keeps the reader intrigued.  The ending is pretty shocking in more way than one and definitely leaves you hanging needing to find out what will happen next.  Luckily for me and you the third and final book in the series is already released and downloaded on my kindle.

Synopsis: Every girl who had taken the test has died.
Now it's Kate's turn.
It's always been just Kate and her mom - and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear that her mother won't live past the fall.
Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld - and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.
Kate is sure he's crazy - until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride and a goddess.
If she fails...
My Thoughts: Great book! Very intriguing story line for a Greek mythology.  I loved reading about the struggles Henry, Hades, has gone through over the last thousand years.  It was very interesting reading another twist in Hades story and having him as the leading guy in this book, rather than the bad guy. I loved Kate in this book, always looking out for others, even if it means putting herself in a precarious situation.  The two of them together fit well when both are willing to let their guard down and allow the other in.

I could not put this book down, I needed to know what would happen next. Very surprising twists at the end of the book, one after the next, involving all the characters I came to love while reading this story. I never would have guessed the way this book ends, and thankfully the second book is already out so I don't have to wait to see what will happen next!!

But the boy’s disappearance is only the beginning.

The one bright spot in her life is Noah Lawson, the handsome new town deputy. Charming and mature, he almost seems too good to be true. Then she meets Xander Payne, the new boy at school, who seems to know something about her. But how could that be possible?

As strange things begin to happen in her sleepy New England town, Laken wonders if Xander has something to do with it. Or is it just a coincidence that danger targets her soon after he arrives?

My Thoughts:  I enjoyed the way the story line built up but felt a little let down when nothing happens. Usually by the end of a book some big secret or discovery happens leaving the reader excited about the next book and where the story is headed. Don't get me wrong I really do want to know what happens next and I feel like it's going to get really intriguing. But right now I feel like it was too drawn out without much happening.

I really enjoyed reading about each character and can't wait to find out more about Xander and his story with his father. I thought the character development was the best part of the book, I love the main character Laken and her friends, you really get a feeling like you really know each character. I feel like the next book will unveil a lot of unanswered questions from the first book. So although I was a little underwhelmed by this book I am still excited to see what happens next!

It began in 1692, over an exceptionally raw Massachusetts winter, when a minister's daughter began to scream and convulse. It ended less than a year later, but not before 19 men and women had been hanged and an elderly man crushed to death.

The panic spread quickly, involving the most educated men and prominent politicians in the colony. Neighbors accused neighbors, parents and children each other. Aside from suffrage, the Salem Witch Trials represent the only moment when women played the central role in American history. In curious ways, the trials would shape the future republic.

As psychologically thrilling as it is historically seminal, THE WITCHES is Stacy Schiff's account of this fantastical story-the first great American mystery unveiled fully for the first time by one of our most acclaimed historians.

With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.

But their problems are just getting started. A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet's AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it's clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she'd never speak to again.

Told through a fascinating dossier of hacked documents—including emails, schematics, military files, IMs, medical reports, interviews, and more—Illuminae is the first book in a heart-stopping, high-octane trilogy about lives interrupted, the price of truth, and the courage of everyday heroes.

History comes alive in this textured account of the rivalry between Harry Houdini and the so-called Witch of Lime Street, whose iconic lives intersected at a time when science was on the verge of embracing the paranormal.
The 1920s are famous as the golden age of jazz and glamour, but it was also an era of fevered yearning for communion with the spirit world, after the loss of tens of millions in the First World War and the Spanish-flu epidemic. A desperate search for reunion with dead loved ones precipitated a tidal wave of self-proclaimed psychics—and, as reputable media sought stories on occult phenomena, mediums became celebrities.

Against this backdrop, in 1924, the pretty wife of a distinguished Boston surgeon came to embody the raging national debate over Spiritualism, a movement devoted to communication with the dead. Reporters dubbed her the blonde Witch of Lime Street, but she was known to her followers simply as Margery. Her most vocal advocate was none other than Sherlock Holmes' creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who believed so thoroughly in Margery's powers that he urged her to enter a controversial contest, sponsored by Scientific American and offering a large cash prize to the first medium declared authentic by its impressive five-man investigative committee.  Admired for both her exceptional charm and her dazzling effects, Margery was the best hope for the psychic practice to be empirically verified.  Her supernatural gifts beguiled four of the judges. There was only one left to convince...the acclaimed escape artist, Harry Houdini.

David Jaher's extraordinary debut culminates in the showdown between Houdini, a relentless unmasker of charlatans, and Margery, the nation's most credible spirit medium. The Witch of Lime Street, the first book to capture their electric public rivalry and the competition that brought them into each other’s orbit, returns us to an oft-mythologized era to deepen our understanding of its history, all while igniting our imagination and engaging with the timeless question: Is there life after death?
